There was an agreed Government line yesterday on the EU-US trade deal: That it provided “certainty for Irish business”.
Certainty is an interesting word. A person with a terminal cancer diagnosis could easily put out a statement welcoming the certainty that their prognosis provides. Certainty refers to an absence of doubt; a security in knowing what your fate will be. It is a neutral word, but one that is being used by Irish politicians as a positive word because more positive words elude them.
