In a reply on February 20 to Galway West Fianna Fáil TD, John Connolly, the Minister of State in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Alan Dillon, provided some interesting figures on the number of Critical Skills work permits issued in 2024.
The Critical Skills permit scheme is “designed to attract highly skilled people into the labour market with the aim of encouraging them to take up permanent residence in the State.” According to the Department this is to address “a significant shortage of supply in our labour market.”
