Isn’t it wonderful having a government that postures about issues on which has almost no influence, while doing nothing whatever about an issue where it has ultimate power? Yet bizarrely, this latter is an issue that should appeal to the inhabitants of the silly silicate quadrangle of Sandycove, Sandymount. Sandyford and Sandyranelagh, because it is GREEN. Nothing gets their tumescent tissues twitching quite as do GREEN things, which allows them to attack those sinister, evil planet-wrecking oil companies such as Shell, BP, Chevron, ExonMobil.
For that’s the real issue, isn’t it? It’s so sexy demonstrating against the hydrocarbon monsters, the Vietnam of the modern era! We shall overcome, arms linked, Joan Baez, Martin Luther King et cetera! This time it’s about preventing the Hydrocarbon Exploiters from destroying the planet, now! Stop Big Gas Companies now! Down with greenhouse gases, now! Up with the Greens, now! More exclamation marks, now!
