“Do your weekly roundup on interesting stories from the election campaign trail, John”. That’s what they said to me. I confess it made me wonder whether some of my colleagues have actually been watching this snoozefest of a campaign at all. Nevertheless, we’ll try.
I asked a retiring Government TD during the week about what’s been coming up on the doors during the canvass – whether any particular issue is dominating. Nothing, he said. “People are listening quietly in the main, not giving much away. I think our vote is holding up, but there’s no sense of real engagement”.
