The final US presidential election results in the tiny New Hampshire town of Dixville Notch are officially in, with both Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris evenly tied with three votes each. The total voting and counting process took just 15 minutes in total.
While this tied result represents just one very small area of a single state, New Hampshire is a swing state, and this result represents a significant departure from the 2020 Presidential election, when in the same area Joe Biden won 5 votes and Donald Trump won 0.
Before that, in 2016, The voters of Dixville Notch gave Hillary Clinton 4 votes, Donald Trump 2, Gary Johnson 1 and Mitt Romney 1.
Dixville Notch voters also voted on who would become the new New Hampshire governor.
Five residents voted for Republican Kelly Ayotte, compared to just one vote for Democrat Joyce Craig.
The tradition of midnight voting in Dixville Notch began in 1960, gradually becoming a distinctive part of American election culture. Tucked away in the remote White Mountains of New Hampshire, this small resort village, often with a population of fewer than ten people, has become an unexpected yet symbolic player in US election history.
