Disclaimer: Since the first of these constituency focus stories yesterday focused on Dublin Bay South, you may be wondering why we’re travelling north to Cavan Monaghan for the second of 43 studies ahead of the general election. The answer is that in many constituencies, the full list of candidates is unknown as yet, so at this early stage I’m sticking with those places where either I know the constituency very well, or the broad outlines of the contest are obvious. Also, these predictions are based off the polling at the time the article was written, and are subject to change before election day.
Cavan Monaghan is a constituency I know very well, having grown up amongst it’s rolling hills, and having contested my one and only election there as an independent candidate in 2011. (reader: I did not win.)
