In the debate on immigration – a debate, by the way, that is happening not because of the ever-compliant establishment media, but due to the concern and upset of ordinary people – we have been constantly told that “no-one has a veto” on who comes to live in their area.
Leo Varadkar said it so often that he could likely make into an indie band hit a la Michael Fry’s Where is John Rodgers?. Harris has following suit, naturally, while Mary Lou McDonald generally prefaces her admonition about the absolute zero chance of a veto with some meaningless nonsense about consulting the comm-yun-i-tee – meaningless because if the consultation reveals what the community actually wants is a veto on an asylum centre, they sure as hell aren’t getting it.
