Dublin City is blanketed in snow this morning as the first day of spring gets off to a chilly start.

A status yellow snow-Ice warning is in place for Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Longford, Westmeath, Leitrim, Roscommon, and Sligo.

County Wicklow is also subject to a snow-ice warning with a risk of icy stretches on untreated surfaces, poor visibility, and hazardous travelling conditions
Met Éireann says rain, sleet and snow in Ulster and north Leinster “will move southwards across the rest of the country through the day, falling mostly as rain by this afternoon, except on higher ground.”

“Hail and isolated thunderstorms are possible too. Drier conditions will follow in the northwest during the afternoon. It will become breezy and blustery later too, as a fresh to strong and gusty north to northeast wind develops. Cold, with afternoon highs of 3 to 7 degrees.”
Up north, a status yellow snow-ice warning is also in place for Armagh, Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Derry.

There is also a status yellow rain warning in place for Dublin, Louth, Meath, and Wicklow
With Met Éireann warning of persistent rain with a mix of sleet and snow at times which it says could lead to localised flooding and hazardous travelling conditions.
