Two men in their 30s and 50s, and a woman in her 20s have been arrested on suspicion of arson in relation to the Shipwright pub and guesthouse in Ringsend.
A fire broke out at the Shipwright before 2am on last New Year’s Eve and required six fire engines and nearly 30 firefighters to bring it under control.
The Shipwright pub and guesthouse in Ringsend was being renovated to provide emergency accommodation and was the focus of protests by locals who believed it would become an asylum centre.
The three arrested are being detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act and can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
Yesterday, gardaí said they are investigating an incident of suspected criminal damage following a fire at a premises in Leixlip, Co Kildare in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Gardaí were alerted to a fire at a vacant residential property on Celbridge Road at approximately 1.30am and attended the scene.
Local fire services also attended the scene, and the fire was brought under control
