Gardaí have confirmed that a man lost his life in an explosion which took place inside a homeless hostel in Dublin City at around 3:30pm.
The incident took place at the Supported Temporary Accommodation operated by DePaul Ireland on Little Britain Street, Dublin 7 causing residents to be evacuated.
Gardaí said that one man sustained fatal injuries in the blast but that no other injuries have been reported.
“The precise cause of the explosion is currently under investigation, and the Garda Technical Bureau will examine the scene.” a Garda spokesperson said.
De Paul has said alternative accommodation for its service users will be arranged tonight.
