Consultant psychiatrist Professor Patricia Casey has said that a rise in anxiety in Irish teenagers can be attributed largely to the relatively new social and sexual pressures that older children and teenagers are now exposed to.
The senior medic said that gender ideology and explicit sex education in classrooms, coupled with the long-term impact of Covid lockdowns and an increase in drug use, are each important factors in explaining why so many young people appear to be struggling mentally.
