To absolutely nobody’s surprise, it turns out that Taoiseach Leo Varadkar wants to avoid having a de-facto referendum on transgender issues at all costs.
Later this year there is a planned referendum on so-called “gender equality,” which relates to the Irish constitution’s definition of the family and women’s role within society. That referendum is planned for November.
