Radio presenter Michael Reade of LMFM said he was “repulsed” to see the Irish tricolour at anti-asylum centre protests in areas like Carlingford, saying that the national flag looked like a “symbol of hate.”
“Earlier in the program I was talking about the protest and some of the scenes I saw, and how repulsed I was at the tricolour being flown,” he said.

“It conjured up an image of hate. It looked as if it was a symbol of hate.”
The presenter went on to compare the scenes to something out of Nazi Germany.
“It reminded me of Germany in the 1930s. Somebody took exception to me comparing the Irish flag to the Nazi flag, to the Swastika.
“Maybe I’m the only one who felt like that, but it certainly did.”
