A male juvenile who was arrested in response to an incident at a secondary school in Co. Donegal this morning has been released without charge.
Gardaí attended an incident at a premises in Raphoe at around 10:30am this morning at which the young man was arrested for an offence contrary to the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act 1990 and taken to a local garda station.
Local media report that the incident occurred at Deele College and saw staff threatened with a weapon.
In an email reportedly sent to parents by the school, parents were reassured that “everything is under control and all students and staff are safe”.
Donegal Education and Training Board, patron of Deele College, said in a statement that an investigation is underway and that it was working closely with the relevant authorities and supports to ensure a continuity of classes.
Gardaí tell Gript that investigations are ongoing.
