Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the N5 at Lisgormin, Bohola, Co. Mayo, this morning, Wednesday 21st October 2026.
The single-vehicle collision, which involved a car, occurred at approximately 5:15 am.
The driver and sole occupant of the car, a man aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has since been removed to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place. The coroner has been notified.
The road remains closed while Forensic Collision Investigators carry out a technical examination of the scene. Diversions are in place at Ballyvary and Bohola.
Gardaí are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
Road users travelling on the N5 near Bohola between 5:00 am and 5:30 am on Wednesday 21st October 2026, who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
