Former US President Donald Trump will launch a new social media platform – The Truth Social – as an alternative to Twitter and Facebook, as part of a drive to establish a media and technology group which he says will encourage freedom of speech.
“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favourite American President has been silenced,” he said in a press release.
“Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”

According to the website of The Truth Social it will be a platform that “encourages an open, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology.”
The former President has previously accused platforms such as Twitter, who banned Trump earlier this year, of “stifling free speech”and exhibiting “unfair” bias.
“I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on Truth Social and to fight back against big tech,” Trump said.
