Beyond the superficialities of most reportage on Artificial Intelligence, there are serious attempts to examine how AI is impacting on the global economy and the social and political implications of all of that.
I have looked previously at how AI has already reduced the demand for certain roles within the technology sector. That trend was reflected in last year’s reduction of 45% in the number of work permits issued for persons from outside the EU working in the overall tech sector (combining manufacture and information and communications).
