The Journal recently decided to fact-check claims that Project 2040, which was published at the beginning of 2018, was a “grand scheme to flood the country with nearly two million extra people by 2040, slapped together in 2018 with a price tag of €96 billion.”
Project 2040 was the government’s “overarching strategy to make Ireland a better country for all.” It was made up of the National Planning Framework and the National Development Plan 2031-30. Between them they set out the then Government’s plan as to how the country would develop.
