ICMSA President Denis Drennan has warned that “the era of cheap food is actually over” as skyrocketing energy, fertiliser, and fuel expenses drive up production costs for primary producers.
Speaking in an interview with Gript at the National Ploughing Championship this week, Drennan said that grocery shoppers will have to prepare to “pay for the actual cost of producing food” as overheads continue to soar across the agricultural sector.
