A recently published Brookings Institution report on the world being created by Artificial Intelligence places the Irish state among what it terms ‘layer specialists.’ Simplistically put, this places Ireland Inc. behind the ‘broad system leaders’ – the United States, China and the EU (that contains member states which have key specialisations.)
Ireland also lies behind ‘stack builders’ who contribute key elements such as computer hardware, networks, data assets, human know-how, and so on. The four named as stack-builders are the UK, India, Japan and South Korea.
