It has been extraordinarily amusing in recent weeks to watch the renewed appreciation of Pope Leo XIV from people who otherwise wouldn’t give the Church the time of day as his (admittedly one-sided) war of words with US President Donald Trump escalated over the war in Iran.
In the face of Truth Social tirade and social media slander, Leo has maintained the, for want of a better way of putting it, ‘left-coded’ position that peace is better than war, especially what he deems to be an unjustified war. A position that is entirely in keeping with the Catholic Church’s broader thinking on the matter.
