Russian state media shows graphic of Ireland destroyed by nukes

Russian state media has broadcast a graphic of Ireland and Britain being destroyed and made uninhabitable by nuclear weapons.

The images were shown on Russia’s largest state-owned television channel, Russia-1, and were introduced by Vladimir Putin-affiliate Dmitry Kiselyov.

The clips were translated by Francis Scarr, who translates Russian media to English for the BBC.

In the clip, Kiselyov asserts that Britain has threatened Russia, and questions why the UK would do this considering the island of Britain is “so small.”

“The island is so small that just one Sarmat missile is sufficient to sink it once and for all – everything has been calculated already,” he said, showing a graphic of a nuclear blast destroying both Ireland and Britain.

In a later segment, Kiselyov discussed the possibility of using a Poseidon nuclear drone, which is an experimental underwater weapon which threatens to “plunge the British Isles into the depths of the sea.”

“It approaches its target at a depth of 1km at a speed of 200km per hour. There’s no way of stopping this underwater drone,” he said.

“The warhead has a yield of up to 100 megatons and will cause a gigantic tidal wave up to 500 metres high. Such a barrage alone also carries extreme doses of radiation,” he said, adding that this would reduce the British isles to a “radioactive desert.”

Kiselyov, who formerly worked for USSR Central Television, stated earlier in the Ukraine conflict that Russian submarines can shoot more than 500 nuclear warheads.

“This would guarantee destruction of the USA, and all other NATO countries, in accordance with the principle ‘Why do we need the world, if Russia isn’t there?’” he said.

“…Putin did warn [the West]. Do not try to scare Russia,” he added.
