RTÉ has told the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee that it has no non‑compliant procurement contracts whatsoever, an extraordinary assertion that immediately raised eyebrows among committee members and will likely attract further scrutiny as the broadcaster moves under the remit of the state’s Comptroller and Auditor General.
The claim came during questioning from Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal-West, Grace Boland, who asked RTÉ for the standard figure every public body provides when appearing before PAC, namely, the proportion of procurement spending that falls outside State rules.
