We recently received an email from a Gript reader who requested “journalistic scrutiny of a significant policy implemented by the Irish Dental Council, which allows refugee and temporary protection-status dentists to bypass the standard Dental Council examination required of all other non-EEA dental professionals.”
“Under the current system, overseas-trained dentists who are not from the EU/EEA must complete a rigorous written and clinical examination to prove they meet Irish professional standards before they are permitted to register,” the reader explained.
