Examining racism, immigration, and women’s lives, as well as the growth of Bolshevism and the USSR is set to become a new focus of the Leaving Cert History curriculum under proposed reforms.
The changes will also see the treatment of immigrants in Ireland from the 19th century onwards take centre stage, with students set to be mandated to learn about the plight of migrants arriving on the island from 1879 onwards.
