This week, Ireland’s Electoral Commission announced that it is seeking to research a variety of democratic areas, including the regulation of misinformation and disinformation; the possibility of more widespread postal voting in Ireland; the potential for non-resident voting; lowering the voting age to 16; and more.
Earlier this week, Gript’s Ben Scallan asked if this research would also examine the potential for fraud with some of these ideas, and whether counter-measures would be put in place to avoid hypothetical abuse of such systems:
