Police in the North are investigating the circumstances after three people were found dead in the Old Cullybackey Road area of Ballymena in County Antrim this morning, Monday 13th July.
The three people were related and found inside the family home.
The PSNI said that there is no ongoing risk to the public, adding that a further update will follow in due course.
Paul Frew, a DUP MLA in the area, said those in the local community would be “horrified” by the tragedy.
“It’s a very settled community, a very quiet community, and in some ways, an elderly community. It’s a community that’s not ready for this type of news, and people will be completely horrified” said Mr Frew.
“People were out and about, and it’s good weather – and what’s on everybody’s lips is this tragedy that unfolded this morning, where we now have three people dead in the one household,” added the MLA.
“People are finding it hard to come to terms with,” said Frew, who hails from the town.
“ I’ve spoken with the local police commander, and they’ve issued as much information as they possibly can. The most important thing, of course, is that there’s no further harm to the public – and that should be reassuring to the public. We need to give the police time and space to investigate further.”
