Christmas has come early for the Labour front bench in the UK. The Labour party conference is kicking off across the water in Liverpool and unfortunately for them they have been bogged down by questions about free glasses for Sir Keir Starmer, personal shoppers and designer dresses worth thousands of pounds for Lady Victoria Starmer, trips to New York for working class girl made good Angela Rayner, and free tickets to Taylor Swift concert and Wimbledon for Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson MP. (There are others, but that will do for now.)
At least two Labour MPs were using the ‘my children made me do it’ defence, saying their children wanted to go to the Taylor Swift concert so they had to accept the freebie tickets. I understand their pain.
