As I made my way home from the Central Criminal Court yesterday evening, having sat all day taking notes from the sentencing hearing of Muhammad Al Shaker Al Tamimi, my taxi driver, who had overheard a phone conversation on the case with my editor, asked me how I listen to things like that and remain “ok”.
He was a pleasant Sikh man, originally from Punjab – the Indian side – who said he came to Ireland 18 years ago, but was now considering moving back home as he feels this country has changed from what it once was.
