Statistics for 2023, issued by the Department of Social Protection on January 16 of this year, show some interesting patterns regarding the proportion of persons of different nationalities claiming the various types of welfare payment available through the DSP.
36% of those in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance in 2023 were non-Irish nationals and that the total number of non-nationals in receipt of unemployment payments had almost doubled to 57,798 over the same period.
