As a general rule, reporters do not comment on specific cases before the courts until such time as those cases are complete. In this piece, I intend to adhere to that. The specific details of a high profile murder case this week remain under wraps as they should, until the courts have reached their verdict.
However, in recent years it has become abundantly clear that “mental health” has featured in an alarmingly high number of violent crimes. Often, in the aftermath of these crimes, we are told that there were failures of mental health services.
