Tomorrow is, we are told by the Trump administration, to be “liberation day” – the day on which tariffs are introduced on a range of foreign-made goods with the intent of restoring and liberating American manufacturing.
It is worth stating clearly what the problem is: The Trump administration’s diagnosis of American economic stagnation is that it is clearly unfair to Americans that Americans are currently able to buy the goods that they want to buy at fair market prices.
