India is one of the most rapidly growing economies in the world. Since the early 2000’s, real incomes (ie, adjusted for inflation) have tripled. The country is home to 1.48 billion human beings, more than three times the population of the EU.
These basic facts alone make a trade agreement between the EU and India a no-brainer, for the simple reason that 450million Europeans are gaining a lot more customers for their products and exports than the Indians are – basically three Indians buying and consuming goods for every one European.
