The Government has a problem when it comes to teaching: Not enough people want to do the job, and ever fewer people who are already teaching desire to remain in the job. Because of these two factors, there is a shortage of teachers in the state and many schools at second level have been forced to drop certain optional subjects because they cannot get anybody to teach them.
But never fear, for newly appointed Minister for Education Helen McEntee has a solution: She is going to fast-track trainee teachers into the job:
