A man who approached two Gardaí in Dublin city centre and proceeded to verbally abuse them has been ordered to pay a €200 fine.
David Tyndall (53) of The Ripley Court Hotel, Dublin approached Garda Kate O’Brien Laidlaw and her colleague on the 7th of May last on Talbot Street at 00:15am.
Garda O’Brien Laidlaw told the court that Tyndall, who the court heard has “issues with alcohol” approached and started to use “abusive and insulting” language, in the course of which he called her “horse face” and “insulted” her facial features.
She said he refused to go away and used “homophonic” language towards her colleague, calling him “juju lips”.
When asked to leave the area, he said, “Would you ever fuck off, you don’t know what you’re doing, you’re only a rookie.”
In resect of the other officer he said, “I’ll punch the head off ye,” and continued to make “aggressive gestures” with his head and fists when arrested.
The accused, who the court heard was not intoxicated on the night in question, has 69 previous convictions, which the court heard include instances of obstruction and threatening and abusive behaviour.
He is receipt of social welfare.
Judge Michele Finan comentad that the behaviour of the accused was “outrageous” and that he was “just being downright criminal in his behaviour towards” the two Gardaí.
The court imposed a fine of €200 with 12 months to pay.
