A 6’5″ male Trinity student came second in a women’s 5km race after putting his name down as female, in an effort to expose the absurdity of the college’s gender policies.
Con Óg Ó Laoghaire, 22, applied to run in the annual race after he was inspired by male rapper Zuby, who broke a female weightlifting record as a way of demonstrating the unfair advantage that male-born transgender athletes enjoy in women’s sports.

“My main motivation was Zuby, who smashed the British women’s deadlift,” Con said. “I wanted to make a point.”
Ó Laoghaire, who is 6 foot 5 inches tall, said getting into the contest was easy.
“I registered online and clicked a box saying I was female. When I came to collect my race number from the Trinity Sports Centre, the lady there said “So you’re male?” as she went to make an adjustment to her spreadsheet. In a slightly triggered tone I said “No, I am female”, and that solved the matter.
“Seeing as it was a once off I don’t think Trinity Sport would risk incurring the wrath of the woke in their very heartland.”

After winning 2nd place in the race, Ó’Laoghaire said the crowd and other athletes had mixed reactions.
“When I emerged from the crowd of runners in the Pavilion Bar to retrieve the ladies #2 medal, I had never seen a place so quiet with that many people in it. I think some people were puzzled, some were amused, some were stunned. But mostly, people were all of those at once.”
“I did a bit of running before college, although at the time of the race I was more interested in guzzling protein shakes and cans of Tesco lager.”
