Although Rassemblement National (RN) is the clear victor in the first round of the elections for the French National Assembly, a second round of voting will be held next Sunday, July 7, to determine the final seats tally for the competing parties.
RN almost doubled its vote from 18.7% in 2022 to over 33%. It entered the election with 89 seats and is certain to come close to trebling that total with estimates of the final outcome ranging between 230 on a very bad day next week to around 300 or higher which would give them an overall majority which requires 289 of the 577 seats.
