Paul Lawless has taken a second seat for Aontú, and will join Peadar Tóibín in the Dáil as TD for Mayo for the party. Ellen Troy of Aontú narrowly missed out on a seat in Dublin West, where Roderic O’Gorman retained the only seat for the Greens in this election.
With 122 Dáil seats filled out of 174, counts for Election 2024 are still ongoing throughout the country. Fianna Fáil are on 32 seats, while both Sinn Féin and Fine Gael are on 28 seats at this point. Labour have taken 8 seats, with Marie Sherlock taking the last seat in Dublin Central, and the Social Democrats have won 7 thus far, with Sol/PBP winning three.
Independent candidates have won 11 seats so far, with Brian Stanley who ran as an Independent after a very public fall-out with his party, Sinn Féin, and Paul Gogarty, formerly of the Greens who took a seat in Dublin Mid West.
Ken O’Flynn looks certain to take a seat for Independent Ireland in Cork North Central, and the party is still in contention in Galway West, Galway East, and Sligo-Leitrim. Michael Collins topped the poll in retaining his seat for the new party, which saw two other TDs also returned.
