You know, in life, there are some topics which are so self-evidently absurd and ludicrous that they actually shouldn’t even warrant a serious response. If we lived in a normal society, you would simply be able to dismiss some arguments out of hand as obvious tripe.
For example, if someone very earnestly told you that they believe cats should be given the right to vote, first you’d laugh, assuming they were joking. And then if you realised they were actually serious, you’d laugh even harder. You wouldn’t sit down and seriously engage with them in a prolonged scholarly discussion about the merits of cat voting. It’s one of those things that shouldn’t even need to be argued – you’d just conclude that the other person is a lost cause.
