If you were a ‘no’ voter in the government’s referendum defeat last week, you might have had time between glasses of champagne to notice quite a few proverbial rats jumping the flaming ship.
While your correspondent was in the thick of things, and at this stage is rather difficult to surprise, I was shocked by the levels of backpedalling and double speak I witnessed as the referendum ship disappeared beneath the murky waters of the Irish electorate’s resounding ‘No’.
