I was digging through old RTÉ footage the other day and came across a Six One News report from July 19th 2016 which was as funny as it was educational.
It was a proper scorcher of a day – 30 degrees at Mount Dillon in Roscommon, and 25 in the Phoenix Park. The tone was exactly what you’d expect from normal people experiencing a rare bit of decent Irish summer. Ray in the studio was chatting away to reporter Sinead Hussey in Athlone: “Looks absolutely glorious there,” the smiling pair said, while talking about the importance of grabbing ice cream and sun screen while the weather permitted.
