Information released to a reader of Gript under a Freedom of Information request shows that the number of notifications to the HSE Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) of persons diagnosed with HIV in the Irish state had risen between 2022 and 2024.
That represented an increase of 16.4% over the two-year period. Significantly, there were just 339 cases notified in 2012 as can be found in the overall data gathered by the HPSC. That means that the number of cases of HIV notified here trebled over that 12-year period.
