As part of operations targeting the drug trade in Clare and Tipperary, gardaí have seized four 3D printed firearms and suspected drugs to the excess of €22,000.
Gardaí attached to the Tipperary Drugs Unit searched a domestic residence in South Tipperary June 17, where two 3D printed firearms along with ammunition were seized.
Cocaine and cannabis worth an estimated €3,500 were additionally seized.
Searches carried out today then at four domestic residences in Co. Clare resulted in the seizure of a further two 3D printed firearms, along with ammunition.
In this course of these searches, €18,400 worth of cocaine and €200 worth of cannabis, counterfeit clothing and a quantity of cash were also seized.
A woman in her 40s and a man in his 30s were arrested and taken to garda stations in Co. Clare, where they are currently being detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offenses Against the State Act 1939 and Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 respectively.
The firearms are to be subject to ballistic testing and forensic analysis, while the drugs seized will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
Investigations are ongoing.
