Joe Einniú, also known as Seosamh Ó hÉanaí, hailed from Carna in the heart of Conamara and he remains one of the twentieth century’s greatest exponents of the sean-nós singing tradition.
A festival in his honour is held each year in his birthplace, and it has become a place where singers and musicians gather to sing his songs and to stay fast to tradition.
Beginning tonight, the weekend of event includes concerts and recitals and Ocáid Ómóis (a night of in honour) of the late Liam Mac an Iomaire who wrote an acclaimed biography of the singer.
