The European Union is set to further centralise power with Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as part of its forthcoming budget rework, outlets close to Brussels are now reporting.
Budget cuts aimed at streamlining the bloc’s expenditure are reportedly expected to centre around entities beyond von der Leyen’s control, with much of the powers currently held by such offices to land in the hands of the German Commissioner.
