The European Union must push Brussels-style tech censorship onto the global south to protect its interests, former Commissioner Thierry Breton has said.
Speaking in response to the recent migrant wave against Spain’s Ceuta exclave, the former official — who has been officially sanctioned by the United States government over his involvement in online censorship — argued that an extension of the EU Digital Services Act beyond the bloc’s borders is now needed.
