An application appeared on the Dublin City Council planning portal on Tuesday which seeks an exemption for the use of a premises on Eden Quay, adjacent to O’Connell Street in the centre of Dublin for “use for international protection accommodation.”
The application is from Eden Quay Taverns and the premises, although not named, is Meagher’s Guesthouse. While the application on the portal might give the impression that this is a new request for an exemption for a change of use to asylum accommodation, the premises has been in use for that purpose since 2022.
