East Wall residents have told Gript that their fears have been confirmed by a fight that took place outside the Two Gateway direct provision building in the area yesterday.
Gript was told that residents in the area are fearful for their children after the incident as they often walk with them on the road where it took place.
A large group of males were caught on camera in what appears to be a mass brawl where at least one man was kicked to the ground and another appeared to use a road sign as a weapon.

A member of the neighbouring LightHouse apartments residents association told Gript that residents are fearful of how the situation will develop over the summer as they feel the warm weather will result in more people congregating outside the building with the possibility of further anti-social behaviour.
Gript was told that the incident was allegedly provoked by a new arrival to the facility – which is now believed to be housing over 400 people – but that this person has since been ‘moved on’.
The residents association say that although they were told that occupants of the direct provision would not be allowed onto their private outdoor area – which is located between the two buildings – that they have witnessed instances of people exiting through the fire escape doors and smoking in the area which they say they pay management fees for.

Gript was told the situation is “steadily getting worse” with instances of public drinking and empty bottles and cans being left discarded in the area.
We were told “loads more people came in” to the facility in recent days but that this was said to be in order to “replace” those who have allegedly left the premises.
Gardaí were photographed outside the premises yesterday however it is unclear whether any arrests were made in connection to the incident.
