Yet another incursion into the media landscape by the State is underway, this time under the guise of Coimisiún na Meán’s ‘Community Media Scheme’, launched in recent days.
A recommendation of the Report of the Future of Media Commission, which was published back in 2022, the ostensible aim of the scheme is to support a “sustainable, inclusive and participative community media sector that delivers social benefit for communities across Ireland”.
