Water supply in a wide region spanning northwest Clare has exuded an odour and altered taste for weeks on end, with one local councillor saying that there’s been a “large-scale turn away” from using it – despite Uisce Éireann’s assurances that the water is safe to drink.
This comes as reports emerge of algae bloom on Lickeen Lough, near Ennistymon’s Water Treatment Plant.
